My real name is jason poindexter, 18 live in the us in va, ive been doing gfx art since april of 2001, im in hs right now my last i hope. i plan on going to college for art, where maybe i will go on in the field of new media. im still not sure about that. im kinda torn right now of choosing what road to take in life right now, im confused.

UNCALLED FOR PSEUDONYME

Well i came up with the name contenu when i first started gfx, i needed a handle, and every name i tried came up taken, and i happened to have a box of 3.5 floppy disk sitting there and i was reading the french section, and it said contenu, which is french for contents, i tried that name it was not taken. thats how i came up with contenu.

CAUSE AND EFFECT

i have always been into art, as long as i can remember i've always drawn, painted or done some form of art. i found myself getting tired of the drawing and painting, i just found the "old school" styles to be very boring. you can draw a box only so many times before you feel like smashing it to tiny pieces, you know? one day at school while wasting time i ran across a site called endeffect and i saw the walls there and was blown away. i had never really seen art of this kind before, so i went home started looking around on the net. about gfx art, got my hands on a copy of paint shop pro 7, and started messing around with that. and haven't stopped yet, so basically i owe my digital art to the good site endeffect.

INSPIRATIONS

Hmm... thats a tuff question. i'd have to say my emotions and lack of them at times...

VIEWS ON THE SKINNING COMMUNITY

i havent been around in the gfx community as long as some people around here, but i think its starting to lack somewhat, don't get me wrong i see tons of killer art out. i see to many people doing "trendy" stuff i used to say "who cares if it's trendy as long as it looks good, thats all that matters", oi i was so wrong, what i see is a bunch of "lemmies". everyone seems to be heading toward the same direction. i don't see as many people going and doing their own thing anymore. yes i to could not help but join in the long line of marching lemmies. basically what i'm trying to say is the gfx community has to many people doing the same thing. and i feel this is harming it.

CONTENU's TRADEMARK

Photo manipulation,  i guess my trademark would have to be my use of women in my wallpapers. For some reason i find joy in making something beautiful... ugly, or the other way round.

THE MUSIC

Well im really into enigma and dead can dance, and enya. yes enya. also i listen to metal, systematic, tool, apc.  i think they balance each other out =]  

THE MOVIES

Fight Club. That movie just is wow, i feel i can relate to it on so many levels.  

Do you create for yourself or for an audience?

I'd have to say both, but mainly for myself, art is an outlet for me to release emotions that other wise would never been released. but there is that side of me that wants the comments from the audience. everyone likes to hear they are good.

adobe photoshop 6.01, i could not live with out this! the one tool id say i could not live with out is the air brush, i use it so much, id be lost with out it.

IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THING AS PORNOGRAPHY?

I think there is, there is a very fine line, and i mine very fine almost transparent line. but in the end i think its up to the viewer, what one may see as porn another may see as art.

Wow what a tough question. i dont know how to answer that at the moment...

SAFETY IN NUMBERS
why do you name your art with numbers?

i do that because i feel that giving a work a title, you basically tell the viewer what they are looking at, it kinda tells them what to think about it. thats what i feel. by not naming them i feel it kinda forces them to think on their own, and people hate to think.

One favorite work and an in-depth explanation or thoughts behind that work

i think my fav one is wallpaper 25, that is my fav one because i feel that on that wall i really broke free of some of my chains that where holding me back in my art. though i am still bound by some yet, with that wall i really put a little part of me into that. it helped open the door a little more to helping me understand myself more. i feel that was my "break through" piece, i'm sure every artist has one, and if you don't, you will understand me more after you have made yours.
