BREED MUSIC
BreedArt.org

Can you give us a background info what type of music you produce?

g.host

So far my musical journey has been quite busy. I started playing trombone in Jazz and Concert bands then moved from there to a Ska band. It was in this Ska band when recording a demo CD on rented gear that the possibilities of computer music dawned on me. I helped mix the album on my PC and became promptly addicted to creating sounds. That was maybe 4 or 5 years ago. I stumbled through different styles, all highly influenced by what I was listening to at the time, from Digital Hardcore to Hard House and dark Techno to my more organic style now. My style will always be changing, I don't doubt that, but my obsession with intriguing rhythms will always remain.

From the group's standpoint we create all kinds of styles, all of which is electronic for now. I would really like to see ::Breed:: grow to have some more conventional and acoustic musicians in the future.

What ignited Breed to start a music division?

g.host

The idea for starting a music division had been mentioned in meetings a few times and no one really took it seriously, myself included. I guess we never realized that there was actually a chance that some of us could make some genuinely good music. For the Fegra ::Breed:: release we decided to include one of my tracks as a soundtrack. While the response wasn't huge, it was very positive and it was at that point that we realized we may actually have something on our hands in terms of a music division. This also prompted some of our semi-dormant members to somehow remember "Oh hey, I've been tracking for 6 years, did someone say something about a music division?" And it took off from there.

And the tools you used...?

g.host

Our music crew has mastered a lot of abilities and our creative techniques differ as much as our setups. Some of our members are almost exclusively hardware driven (cmicali for example) while others are almost totally software (myself and 4m33s) and others are somewhere in between. Here is a very short list to give everyone an idea of what some of us use.

Software:

Propellerheads Reason
Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5.0
Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 3.0
Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 3.0
Steinberg Cubase VST
Native Instruments FM7
Native Instruments Reaktor
RTAS T-Racks
Ztracker (cmicali's own software)
Hundreds and Hundreds of plugins

Hardware:

Access Virus b
Yamaha a4000 sampler
Korg trinity rack
Korg ms2000
Behringer Eurorack 1604a mixer
Samson s*com stereo compressor
Alesis midiverb 4 fx unit
Roland TB303
Sequential Circuits Prophet-5
Pandora's Box

What are the division's inspiration... motivation and goals...

g.host

While we each have our own goals I can honestly say that making the most personally satisfying music possible is our biggest motivation. What is ultimately going to make this group great is first and foremost the people involved, music is the bi-product of what is already becoming really solid teamwork. Both ::Breed:: and our fledgling music division have some pretty awesome ideas for the future but I guess that's all I can say for now, except that I'm pretty damn excited.

Do you blend your music with the art releases?

g.host

So far it hasn't been a priority, but then again, it hasn't for the art divisions either. We have had one 'themed' pack to date; EROS. It was extremely well received and in that release both Varro and I had tracks relating to, um, fornication. We plan on releasing another themed pack designed to be a coordination between all three divisions very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

We will... but err... you don't compose sappy and mushy songs that leads to impotency, right?

g.host

Quite the contrary. In fact most of our tracks are designed specifically to get you laid in almost any circumstance. If you fail it is your fault, are hopeless, and might as well do the human race a favor and eliminate yourself before contaminating the global gene-pool by any further distractions to us desirable humans from our important duties like the sex that you will never have.

[LOL]... and the songs... you don't insert any subliminal messages inserted that leads to world domination, right?

g.host

World domination? No. But I have become independently wealthy from the checks I receive from my more 'influenced' listeners. Yes my children, the time is now, Don't Pet The Flowers.

Rumors say that some of the breed members are into the 'boy-band' stuff... can you clarify this matter?

g.host

Actual quote from our private forum in the "Musician Recruitment" section:

doofgoblin: can we recruit boy bands?....and then slay them?
zkreso: yes we must
necron: now there`s a thought... and i can team up with x0r to shoot some photos, and make cool, dark photomanips when you`re done cutting them into pieces :)

Good... so we're not be expecting those boy-band type of songs from you, right?

g.host

To our astonishing surprise, not only do most of the ::Breed:: crew look like beautiful pre-pubescent boys, but we sing like eunuchs too! Expect a CD out sometime this Fall from Sony Music, we're called 'The Heterosexual Breeders' and our premier album will be called 'Baby I'll be Your Fetus'. The members will include our lead singer/prettyboi Skrath , the mysterious one will be Doofgoblin, I am the boring one, Cmicali is the bad boy and edea is non-white-boy with 'flair' but is really just weird and has an inferiority complex.
